Public Forum on How Asian Pacific Islander Voters Can Be the Margin of Victory in 2024 Elections
May 11, 2024 at 1:00pm
J-Sei, 1285 – 66th St., Emeryville, CA

A group of friends in the San Francisco Bay Area who call themselves “Chizu’s Corner” is hosting a public forum on the importance of the Asian Pacific American vote in the 2024 elections with speakers from AA4D.

Asian Americans 4 Democracy (AA4D) is a political project raising funds to support grassroots Asian Pacific American voter mobilization groups in the swing states for this year’s presidential election.

Dianne Fukami, a documentary filmmaker whose most recent work is “Norman Mineta and His Legacy: An American Story,” and Hoyt Zia, the founding president of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, will present AA4D’s strategy and plans to help increase APA voter turnout in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Nevada, and Wisconsin. Chizu Omori will speak on the historic link between the Incarceration of Japanese Americans during WW II and what will probably happen if Donald Trump were to be elected again.

The event will also feature the powerful documentary film, “Rising Against Asian Hate.” The film includes a reminder of how the wave of anti-Asian violence in recent years was initiated, and how in response, Asian Americans have fought to gain a political voice and refuse to be silenced.  This political voice must be heard in this year’s Presidential election.

Seats are limited. Register here

Political donations will be solicited to support AA4D. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Hosts:  Chizu Omori, Shoshana Arai, Yuri Miyagawa and Suzanne Hidekawa and Ranko Yamada (“Chizu’s Corner”)’
